This is an opportunity to imbed your skills into a large diverse client base and professional practice with potential to manage relationships in the future. Ideal applicants will have a background in technical services & paraplanning, or as a Financial Planner.

The Opportunity

The primary focus of the role is to support senior Advisers with the day to management of existing and new clients. Supported by an administration team you will provide a high level of service to clients, produce SOA and ROA’s for the Advisers, and demonstrate a proactive approach to supporting the team.

The position will involve direct client meetings, extensive training, mentoring and personal development potentially leading to managing existing clients over time, then ultimately new clients and a full Client Advisory position.

Norwest based Investment Advice specialist firm with a focus on individual investment and asset allocation and wholistic advice services for private clients.

The business is a mature Financial Planning practice with loyal client relationships representing in excess of 400 client groups (families) and circa $220M of FUA. The practice employs two full time support staff, a Senior Financial Planner and the Principal Financial Planner. The position of Associate is a new role for the business.

The role

As the Associate Adviser, your role will be to focus on technical research, investment and cash flow modelling, and the advice writing processes.

  • Preparation of complex and strategic SOA's & ROA’s
  • Conduct research, financial modelling, product comparisons and projections
  • Provide administrative and technical support to the two financial advisers
  • Maintain compliance standards across the full review & new business process
  • Work with the advisers to develop quality advice strategies
  • Research products, strategies and technical issues to ensure advice is fully compliant with the best interest duty
  • Deep understanding of compliance in relation to investments, insurance, superannuation both simple and complex strategies

Liaising & coordinating with professional services and external stakeholders (e.g.: Stockbrokers, Accountants, Lawyers, Real Estate Agents, Banks, Superannuation Funds, Insurance Providers, etc)

Proactive input to the continuous improvement of advice provided to clients, and overall business processes & procedures

The Person

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as a Paraplanner or Associate Adviser
  • Degree qualified in relevant degree
  • Minimum - Diploma of Financial Planning
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with XPlan, Wealth Solver, Risk Researcher and XTools+.
  • Capable of writing complex SOA's and ROA's
  • Extensive strategy development experience across a number of areas including SMSF, retirement, investment, risk and tax planning
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the current Industry Compliance standards
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as autonomously
  • Ability to support a small team of Financial Advisers with the implementation of financial strategy and provide technical input.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
