Job Overview:
Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) holder with 50 AR’s is seeking a highly skilled and diligent Compliance Officer / Manager. The Compliance role will be responsible for ensuring the organisation adheres to the regulatory requirements set out by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and other relevant laws and regulations.
Assistance with managing the compliance framework, conducting risk assessments, and providing guidance to ensure the business operates in line with its obligations under the AFSL.

Thus, some or more of the Key Responsibilities: Compliance Officer / Manager
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with the requirements of the Corporations Act 2001, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) regulations, and other applicable financial services laws.
- AFSL Compliance: Oversee the day-to-day management of the AFSL compliance obligations, including ensuring all authorisations and conditions of the licence are met.
- Policy Development and Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures to reflect changes in laws and industry best practices, ensuring the business operates within its licence conditions.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks associated with financial services, advising on the appropriate strategies to manage these risks.
- Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs to staff on the regulatory requirements associated with financial services and the obligations under the AFSL, including continuous professional development.
- Internal Audits and Investigations: Conduct regular internal audits, compliance reviews, and investigations to ensure compliance with relevant laws and organisational policies. Identify potential compliance breaches and work with management to implement corrective actions.
- Reporting: Prepare detailed compliance reports for senior management and board members on compliance status, risks, and ongoing regulatory issues.
- Liaison with Regulators: Act as the primary contact with ASIC, auditors, and other regulatory bodies in relation to compliance matters. Manage and respond to regulatory inquiries and inspections.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on changes in regulatory requirements, industry standards, and compliance best practices to ensure the organisation’s compliance framework remains robust and effective.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in compliance within the financial services industry, preferably with experience working for an AFSL holder.
- Strong knowledge of the Corporations Act 2001, ASIC regulations, and other relevant Australian financial services laws.
- Experience with compliance risk management, policy development, and internal audits.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations in practical business settings.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and educate stakeholders at all levels.
- Attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Australian Financial Services Compliance Certification or other relevant professional certifications is highly regarded.
